FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ABINGDON, VA (July 19, 2012) – Highlands Community Services’ Thrive radio show shares information regarding mental and behavioral health in a way that is relatable and entertaining.  The 30-minute show airs on WEHC 90.7FM twice per week and is hosted by Communications Manager Danielle Lamson and Crisis Stabilization Care Coordinator Elisabeth Dooley.

Listeners can tune in Wednesdays at 1:00pm and Mondays at 6:30pm to hear the show or listen to archived episodes at www.thriveradioshow.com.

Host Danielle Lamson says that, “The goal of Thrive is to continually reduce the stigma and misinformation attached to mental health treatment.  We desire to talk about issues and topics in a way that makes people feel comfortable and enlightened.  Our hope is that listeners will realize that mental and behavioral health treatment is a positive thing and nothing to be ashamed or scared of.”

Thrive covers topics ranging from nutrition to stress to common mental health myths.  Hosts Dooley and Lamson even discussed mental health in Hollywood with the recent show “Star-Studded Mental Health”.

Host and mental health professional Elisabeth Dooley says, “We want our listeners to feel well and be better – just like we say on the show each week. The topics we discuss and the information we provide on air is a way to offer the community ideas for what they can do to enrich their journey in life. Our show also addresses very specific mental health related topics including education about depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia just to name a few. We can link our listeners to resources where they can receive assistance if they recognize that they or a loved one may be experiencing untreated mental health issues.”
