The Sponsor Home Program offers individuals with a developmental disability the opportunity to live in a licensed sponsored family home in their community. Sponsor home settings offer a nurturing and supportive home environment focusing on supports to increase the individual’s independence, health, safety, and community involvement.
Sponsor home providers contract with HCS to provide room, board, and supervision and teach independent living skills. Families are also encouraged to provide frequent, planned community activities. HCS provides training, staff support, and 24-hour crisis intervention. Sponsor home families receive a monthly stipend (the amount is based on the needs of the individual).
Individuals are referred to the Sponsor Home Program for several reasons: parents can no longer provide the level of care needed; the individual is returning to the community from an institution or hospital setting; or the individual has issues that require significant one-on-one attention.
HCS emphasizes the Person-Centered Approach that empowers and supports each individual in developing his or her own lifestyle.
